Equivalent in size to 2 GCSE’s. 

 

BTEC Level 1/2 qualifications are nationally recognised.  They are different from GCSEs because they are linked to a particular sector of work – e.g. Health and Social Care.  The BTEC Level 1/2 First Certificate in Health and Social Care will provide you with skills, knowledge and understanding needed for employment in the Health and Social Care Sector. 

 

To achieve a Level 1/2 First Certificate in Health and Social Care you will be required to study 7 units.

External Assessment

 

The external assessment will take place in January of Year 11 and Year 12.   You will be informed of the exact date in advance and it is your responsibility to be present for the external assessment which will be completed under exam conditions.  Results will be issued in March.  You will have the option to repeat these units in June however you will have to pay a fee to repeat these. 

 

Internal Assessments

 

You will be given an Assignment Brief which will set out a series of tasks to be completed by a specified deadline.  You must hand in your work on time.  Your work will then be assessed by your teacher (against specified criteria) and awarded a grade from the following:
