The Music Department at St. Joseph’s strives to offer each pupil every opportunity to display their musical abilities and to reach the highest level of performance possible. This is achieved through gaining confidence in Performance, Listening and Composing activities in the classroom, ensemble and group work and taking part in the wide range of musical experiences offered.
Years 8, 9 and 10 follow a taught music program with a provision of 70 minutes per week. The course aims to prepare students with the appropriate Performing, Composing and Listening skills to effectively pursue at key stage 4.
The Music Department has one classroom which is furnished with new top of the range Apple IMac computers. Pupils have access to Sibelius Compositional Software and Garageband.
Extra Curricular Activities
The main extra curricular activities include Choir, Traditional Group and String ensemble which perform in the annual feis.
Pupils have the opportunity to display their exceptional talent and commitment in the annual Spring Concert and the Musical Grease in 2014.
