In St. Joseph’s H.S., Year 8, 9 & 10 pupils have one 70 min period of Physical Education per week. All key Stage 3 students will follow a broad and balanced curriculum based upon the following areas of study; Athletics, Dance, Games and Gymnastics.
At Key Stage 4 students will have one 70 min period of Physical Education per week. They will experience a programme of Health Related Physical Education which will integrate both the theoretical and practical aspects of exercise. They will also cover a broad and balanced range of activities taken from the Areas of Study.
Students will also have the opportunity to study Physical Education at GCSE level. This is a very popular choice at GCSE level and has a large focus on practical skills. The theoretical element of the course covers topics such as; Components of Fitness, Fitness Testing, Training Programmes, Principles of Training, etc.
