The Geography Department at St. Joseph’s were very pleased to recently welcome Mr Patrick McShane, Environmental Officer with Newry and Mourne District Council, to speak to a selection of Year 9 students interested in safeguarding the environment.

This was part of an Eco School/Connected Learning project with the Home Economics and Technology Department which focuses on the need for everyone to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle their everyday waste.

The St. Joseph’s pupils were then given the task of creating their own recycled Christmas decorations, the results of which were not only very impressive but also sent home a strong message that recycling is an accessible, legitimate and purposeful pastime.
